Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about privacy.

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about privacy. Not in the dramatic sense… just the simple kind.

The kind where you can sit outside with your coffee in the morning and not feel like the whole world is looking at you.

Where the sound softens a little.

Where the trees move in the wind.

Where your property feels tucked away and peaceful — even if you’re not miles out in the country.

One of the things I love most about old Florida properties is how naturally they blend into the landscape over time. Oaks, layered greenery, soft hedges, palmettos… nothing too perfect or overly manicured. Just spaces that feel lived in and protected.

I’ve been working on plans for a layered privacy hedge around part of our property to soften some neighboring views, and it reminded me how much landscaping changes not just the look of a home — but the feeling of it.

Not every improvement has to happen inside the house. Sometimes peace starts outside.

For anyone curious, some of my favorite Florida-friendly privacy plants are:

* Sweet Viburnum (fast growing)

* Simpson’s Stopper (beautiful old Florida feel)

* Native palmettos for layering and texture

And honestly, I think people are craving this more than ever lately — a little more softness, a little more privacy, a little more room to breathe.

That’s the kind of lifestyle I love helping people find.
